 Looking for the impossible?
I am looking for software that will take scanned images in .tif format and convert them to text-searchable PDFs. When I downloaded your software the other day I did not have time to try it out. I will be doing that today. If you package doesn't do that or if there is an intermediate step that needs to be accomplished, I would like to know. We are archiving old documents from the 70's, 80's and 90's and would like to have the ability to do full-text-search on these documents.

Only used it a few times so far to check some large mp3's I'd previously downloaded using a download manager but which seemed too small - it gave me very quick and easy confirmation of the correct file size.

Easy chinese dialogs review
I am studiyng Chinese (only from 2 years) and I try to use the EChineseDialogs.
I have found the application very well made but it's (in my opinion) for the people who knows the Chinese language more than a little bit.
Moreover the dialogs seems to me too casual: I think that the student must see before some simple dialog whit the accent on the most used words and verbs (i.e. when, if, to be, to have...) so he can learn the general structure of the phrases. Ather that the student can ear or see casual and mixed dialogs.
The Chinese grammar is simple, it's true, but in any rate, she must be verified with examples and dialogs.

Ping Plus for XP and Vista v0.1

Well i downloaded the application package, and went to install it, but obviously I must have missed the message that would tell me the temporary key would download to my email, so after a few minutes frustration, checked my mail and found it, ok cool off I go and install it, worked a treat, not a problem running under Vista64.
Only problem I have found is that if your trying to use PingPlus and trying to type in the IP address after the second number it tries to go off on its merry way and start to ping....
So trying to ping say 10.1.1.1 it gets the first two numbers and goes off and tries to ping 0.0.0.10... FAIL.
The easiest way is to use notepad type out the IP address then copy and paste it in... then it works a treat, goes off providing some valauble information with regard to the TTL/Time, it is also great for reporting the packet loss (very helpful for evaluating a connection).
So apart from the glitch with entering the IP it is a great little tool.

Couldn`t run it in Win9x
Tried to start Destktop iCal lite under Win 95 OSR2 / Win 98 SE / Win ME
first it failed because of the missing GDIPLUS.DLL. After installing GDI+ the program stopped while initializing, stating "Create Process failed; code 31" "The file CALENDAR.EXE ist linked to the missing Export-USER32.DLL:UpdateLayeredWindow.
Si far I think that it might be just the Program i was seekuing for (a small and fast iCalendar client for older Hardware) but it seems that you need at least Win NT or 2K.

I downloaded One Cap Viewer because on googling a group said it could open this sort of file. It did not. I was impressed with the speed with which it did open other photos and scans on my hard discs and found one I did not know I had so I shall be experimenting with it and comment properly in due course. I recently switched from PC to mac and was disappointed to find that there isn't a product as
good as the Savings Bond Wizard provided by the Treasury. Since Savings Bond Tracker was
inexpensive, I tried it. Not real happy with it. My download from SavBnd Wizard did not
import totally. I got some bogus error message about H bonds of which I didn't have any.
The redemption value calculation was not clear and appeared not to work right. Not a good
product. I would not recommend it.
